Change on the horizon?

So it is no secret that that I am not a fan of where I work.
The job itself is fine, one of the best I've ever had truth be told. But the environment really wears me down, & the blind issuing of orders from upon high too.
Well change is on the horizon allegedly.
My friend chris who is also my manager might be moving departments. He has had my back

Chances are no. They tend to go internal with positions like this unless someone spectacular comes along. And working around the position they're going for they know what they're looking for.

No is the short answer.
I'm not trained or experienced enough to compete with the others for one thing.
For another I really don't have a taste for it. I've never felt an urge to get into middle management for something I don't care for & as it is I am struggling to care for my job.
And for an added bonus I know from watching my friend be a manager that you get paid more but you have to out in a LOT of extra hours to keep the big wigs happy.
