No no no!

Just heard on a large NYC radio station: "Who says women can't park?"

That was the lead sentence of a story on the (female) shuttle commander's smooth docking with the international space station.

Now, please excuse me while I go smack a few newswriters upside the head.

*unamused*

I know for a fact that I'm better at parallel parking than 95% of the men I know.

The worst part is, the anchor was female, the "service aid" (why do they have such weird names for their producers) was female... and yet. We're our own worst enemies sometimes.

How does this make you not cynical?

...

Well, it's context sensitive, see- last night there was a big deal on the news about how a woman drove the space shuttle and met another woman in the space station- like somehow women were aliens or something- I just thought it was symptomatic of a backward and retarded popular culture that still considers females lower status than males-

In other words, it doesn't. :P

Oh, yeah -- it's blatantly offensive, and I would pay money to see Tracy visit frantic vengeance on the newswriter with a barge pole. But you're still cynical.
