if you read All my Sons, did you notice the parallel between chris and joe keller's relationship, and jim stark in Rebel without a Cause with his parents. i saw the movie last night and read the play today. when jim pleads to talk to his parents, he says he has to go to the police and his parents say as long as he knows he did wrong, that's enough. he counteracts that it doesn't mean anything. for once he has the oppurtunity to do right, when he's always made the wrong choice. his parents say volunteering to tell the truth when he wasn't the only one involved will ruin his whole future. his mom wants to move away and forget about the incident, such as Chris' family in All my Sons. Jim's dad says, "when you're older, You'll learn." and Jim says, "well i don't wanna learn that way."

In All My Sons, chris says he doesn't care about the money because it was made as a result of the deaths and the wrongful imprisonment of Ann's father. he doesn't care that his father did it for the family, because in the end he lied to himself, and ( ... )

I read All My Sons ahead of my class because I actually liked it, and now I'm going to have to rent Rebel Without A Cause.
