Don't you find that article lacks supporting facts? I don't see it as a good article, more like a defensive editorial.
I think the stubborn people who could have left but did not are already thanking their lucky stars that they have their lives, and are not out there blaming the government for their mistakes.
You cannot deny that preventitive action was not taken soon enough. You cannot deny that aid did not arrive soon enough and all parties are to blame for that. And, you cannot deny that the man in charge of managing natural disasters for our entire country fabricated his experience managing such emergenies.
Everyone screwed up in some way. Regardless of who is easier to blame, everyone is going to make changes to prevent things like this in the future. Whether they admit it publically or not; no human being wants something like that on their conscience. I guarantee everyone who possibly could have done something to help before or after, but did not, is feeling the guilt.
When did this become about blame? Why are people so quick to use that word or assume that is what we are all trying to do... BLAME someone for a NATURAL DISASTER
( ... )
I took the point as.. lay off the federal government because people need to be held accountable for their own actions.. which is true to some degree. But, there are so many things out in the open that make it obvious he is not telling the whole story. I just want to hear it all, in one place. Or at least both side of each point. That is what a good article is to me.
