Yes. Just. . .fucking YES. And I'm a Christian. Exactly right, Mr. Olbermann. Damn fucking exactly. The feeling I get watching that reminds of the feeling I got reading this in a post about Fred Rogers (A Presbyterian minister, as well as all the rest) here:
Mister Rogers seems to have been almost exactly the same off-screen as he was onscreen. As an ordained Presbyterian minister, and a man of tremendous faith, Mister Rogers preached tolerance first. Whenever he was asked to castigate non-Christians or gays for their differing beliefs, he would instead face them and say, with sincerity, “God loves you just the way you are.” Often this provoked ire from fundamentalists.
Just the way you are. It's about love. It's so simple and that's what makes Prop 8 more disgusting
( ... )
I dealt with the hypocrisy of Catholic school with a theology teacher who had abortion signs up and promoted the ideas that there has to be action against those who support Roe. v. Wade (oh I would be one of them) yet would teach us that God loves us and forgives all.
This is what bothers me about religion. It's the politics. It's how man has decided what the rules are to their convenience and justify it by God as if it is a free pass. This is why I don't go to church anymore, I can't deal with the people who show up once a week to punch in a weekly faith card and then cut people off and curse in the parking lot trying to get to Dunkin Donuts.
For me, being Catholic is between me and God all the time in my way. I believe in some of the things in the church but not a lot of them.
gah, hit submit too quickly. I think this is maybe a tad too late. If he'd spoken out a day or so before the election maybe some people would have stopped to think before voting on it, but I guess better late than never.

"There's no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation"
I only wish one day the American government would rethink their position.

I want to point to the bible nitwits that there is the separation of church and state for a reason
