Late Night

I sighed and brought the second box up from records. If I had to go back down there a third time to grab some other section of the files I was going to pass out. I crossed the floor and dropped the box onto the table with a nice thud. I glanced at my watch and smirked. It was already 1am. The briefing was in only 7 hours, and I wasn't sure if cold ( Read more... )

It was times like these that really made me wish we were allowed to have our own personal slaves at work. I suppose it spoiled the corporate image we were trying to project, but damn it would have saved me the traipsing back and forth from the copying machine.

I came into the office to find Eve sitting in one of the big leather chairs, and I could tell she'd probably been lounging in it less than ten seconds before I'd entered. Her Jimmy Choo's lying on the floor gave it away. I hid a smirk, imagining her sitting with her silk-stockinged feet daintily perched on the lacquered table, a bored pout gracing her pert lips.

"Running low on toner huh? I grabbed those files, and have no clue if I want to keep going right now. I think I need a break or my mind is going to go numb."I nodded and came to lean on the table with my hip, looking down at her with an amused glint in my eye ( ... )

I agreed with her sentiment whole heartedly. This case was just trying. Trying my patience and me. She leaned against the table and I saw the way her DKNY skirt shifted up her thigh a bit with the change in her posture.

Not that I was looking.

"Speaking of legwork...I see your shoes decided to take a break too. Are they new? The ankle strap style really suits you."Smirking up at her a bit, it was cute that she was being so complimentary. Most the time our banter was a bit more dry and a lot more cut throat. I suppose the long hours that we had been spending with each other had shifted the tone between us a touch ( ... )

"Yeah, they might look good, and do wonders for the shape of my calves, but my feet don't agree. They are killing me."

I nodded with a knowing smile.

"The price we pay for looking a million dollars, hmmm?"

I watched as Eve began to massage one of her tired feet. She looked up at me as if to gauge whether I cared if she continued. To be honest, I was tempted to do the same, but I didn't want to give her the impression I was following her lead. That would have been too much of a concession.

"Hey, I can't stand these stockings anymore. I need to stretch my toes."I didn't bother to react either way, and instead just continued to observe as Eve proceeded to shimmy out of her nylons. It was pretty amusing to watch her divest herself of the offending stockings, and yet at the same time I rather enjoyed it. Eve, after all, was pretty easy on the eyes. That was part of her hook. The senior Partners had created her to be just that. As tempting and innocent looking as a rosy red apple, and yet...one bite and you were going to get a nice ( ... )

The temperature in the room had increased a bit. I mainly blamed the cost effectiveness of the firm. Shutting off the cooling after a certain point under the impression that no one of their right mind would be working at this hour. Yet here we were. In the board room ignoring work and instead focusing on each others fashion tastes.

I suppose we weren't working. Lilah seemed to be unflinching from my removal of her shoes and deep down I knew she was appreciative. The tiny shift in her hips was the tell tale sign. She was settling into the plush carpet just as I had.

"Much better. Thank you, you didn't have to do that. Is that a Tiffany?"Her hand snaked off her side and thin delicate fingers gingerly traced the chain around my neck down to the pendant. My chin dipped slightly almost as if her touch made me forget what I had put on this morning. Although at the moment it would be yesterday morning. I held my breath for a moment waiting for her hand to move back to her own form and instead found myself getting a bit lightheaded as her ( ... )
