Days were filled with distractions. There were always rundown meetings and highlights to watch and scripts to write. Anything that didn't pertain directly to work was pushed aside until it became white noise and could be ignored.
At night, alone in the dark, the voices came unbidden and he could no longer drown out the murmured reminders that he was hardly the blameless victim in all this. Many sleepless nights passed before he was willing to admit the truth of the words. "I won't fail you again," Casey vowed finally, his voice an echoing boom that chased the whispers away.
