double drabble
Dan spent most of the session avoiding eye contact and speaking little. With a minute left, he looked up abruptly and asked, "Are dreams important?"
"Some people think so," Abby shrugged. "Freud and Jung both placed a lot of value on them, as do many others."
"Do you?"
"I think if you spend a lot of your day thinking about a specific thing or performing a specific activity, it could show up in a dream because your brain is processing the day's events while you sleep. And the same goes for people: if you spend a lot of time with a particular person, it makes sense that you might dream about them."
"But does what you dream mean anything?"
"Are you asking if I believe in the Disney notion that 'a dream is a wish your heart makes'?"
"Yes."
"No." Abby shook her head.
Dan let out a deep breath. "Thanks," he said as he stood up and walked over to the door. "See you next week."
Abby tracked him with her eyes but stayed seated. "What did you dream, Dan?"
"That I kissed Casey." Dan shut the door behind him before she had the chance to call him back.
