Isaac was 11 when his parents gathered the whole family around the radio in the kitchen to listen to a man named Jackie play baseball.
Isaac and his older sister sat quietly through the whole game with wide grins on their faces. His brother and younger sister, only 7 and 5, quickly grew fidgety and restless and their parents had to gently shush them and explain why this game was important; this was a moment they were going to want to remember.
Jackie didn't get a single hit that day, but it didn't matter.
It was a whole new ballgame.
