I had to print out your post, so I could read it at leisure, that's why it took me a while to comment.
BTW ... They did use "Enter Sandman" in the unaired pilot, but changed it later for the aired version. Some of the music got switched around too. Don't remember exactly how, since I didn't pay a lot of attention to the music, besides thinking that it is really cool. That is going to change now after reading your post. ;)
I am looking forward to an update, once the whole season is finished.
