I agree with most of your post.

Damon pissed me off to no end. And you should see the hyprocricy in this fandom, especially the Damon fans, but that's no surprise, is it?

So it's okay for Damon to say what he did the previous episode, yet.. Stefan should just shut his mouth and mind his own business?

I don't get when people say he is selfless, when he is selfish. He is only thinking of himself. He doesn't care about Elena or what she wants. this is HER life, not his. You can protect someone all you want, but when it comes down to it.. its their decision on what they want to do or not. He is basically taking away her free will. he has no right to tell her what he do.. because at the end of the day.. its her choice. Her life. Her decision.

With the way this fandom is.. I start to wonder why i am still watching.
Damon can do no wrong. they cheer when he said what he did to Stefan the week prior, but when Stefan fights back.. he gets hate *rolleyes*

That's exactly why I didn't post it on FF. Some people even said that the fight was Stefan's fault because he egged Damon on about Andie and I just want to forget I read that. It becomes clearer every day that this fandom is biased towards Damon, that they will find any explanation no matter how far-fetched to redeem him. Whether that's "Saint Stefan" or bad Elena for not loving him enough or daddy issues or whatever, Damon will always be the victim in their eyes.

I'm not giving up on the show, because of the other characters, mainly. But I'm giving up on the fandom. The less I know about their discussions, the better, I think.

Yeah, I read that comment as well and was like WTF? God forbid that Stefan try to stand up for Andie and what he is doing to her. So, Basically it's Stefan fault for standing up to him for what he is doing to Andie. Its obviously Stefan's fault that Damon acted like a child and mentioned that Andie was the only thing keeping him from going after Elena

It doesnt really matter or not he has Andie, Elena would just have to keep rejecting him again and again.
People are so biast in terms of Damon. And he is meant to be the older brother, yet he acts like he is 5 yrs old. Damon's actions are his own.. you can't blame Stefan for anything Damon does or says.

I know, I know, trust me! And I've read spoilers on how they'll make Delena happen in S3 and I don't know if that's true or not, but Jesus, it has me laughing at the ridiculousness of it :D

Found your review through fanforum :) and completely agree. I am new to TVD and TVD fandom and I totally cannot understand fandom's fascination with Damon. I usually go for the bad boys but I hate his character mostly because of Ian Somerhalder's bad acting and his bulging eyes. He seems to have just the one expression that he uses all the time. So yes, if he takes a break to get some acting lessons, I think the series will improve tremendously ( ... )

Thanks for commenting :)

I think most of the Damon defenders have been there since the beginning and are fans of Ian. His eye thing wasn't so bad in the first season, but you're right, it really has gotten out of hand this season. I'll probably be fast forwarding through his scenes in the future, they just annoy me too much.

I did start watching True Blood when it first aired, but I didn't get past the first few episodes. I think it had a lot to do with Bill (I always loved when he said "Sooookey!") and the fact that I just didn't have time for another show.
I always like ensemble shows more than when it's about two or three people and I genuinely hope that the writers can still turn this around. They did put some good focus on the werewolf storyline at the beginning of this season, but then everything had to be about Elena again :(

I know this is late, but this is an awesome review! I don't know if you've seen the webclip for the finale, but even if I cared about the possibility of Damon dying (as if he'll die), Ian's "acting" would've taken me right out of that caring feeling.

No, I haven't, I haven't even brought myself to watch 2x21, yet. It's fuckery beyond belief. It's not like Damon will actually die, it's not like that is an option. So this storyline is really just a setup to "redeem" Damon, to make him lovable, to make everyone show their concerns for him. I don't understand why anyone except Stefan would be concerned about Damon dying ( ... )

Or that it makes him a "grey" character ( ... )

He raped Caroline?! I didn't see this episode. I started late in season one. Did he use influence on her? My god, do they know they've created a monster?
