Today I ran two workshops at the annual conference of the Association of Radical Midwives. I was pretty nervous beforehand. I've only been working in the pregnancy and birth field for four and bit years so I felt a bit junior to be presenting at an event alongside some of the biggest names in the business. Go you!

I had quite wanted to go to this conference (I'm an ARM member), but it was such a long way/expensive, and i had promised already to be my friend's birthpartner in this timespan.

It was a good one. I didn't make it to all the speakers but the ones I did see were well worth listening to. And I made it to none of the workshops being busy in my own, but I heard only good things. I did manage to have lunch with Veronika Robinson (editor of The Mother magazine) and dinner opposite Jane Evans and Sarah Montagu - all purely by chance, so I got to soak up a bit of their wisdom by osmosis. :)

I hope your friends birth goes well. I'm on call myself at the moment too, but fortunately within an hour of Telford so this weekend was all very doable. If they do one in Telford again (I believe it's in the pipeline as the venue was so good) then we don't live far away and have crash space...

Ooh, now that offer of crash space sounds very useful! Plus it would be rather lovely to spend a bit of time with you guys :)

My friend actually already gave birth - but it wouldn't have been practical to come anyway.
It's nice to hear a personal review - it's hard to know whether it's worth such a trip.If i know i can combine it with seeing you then i think i'll be coming next year!

Congrats G on the sales and interest and having dinner with the mother of Mother magazine. Wow! (did you ever get on that cover? You did didn't you?)

Congratulations on being part of that community and feeling your 'calling' I reckon the earth and all the mothers, partners and babies out there need you G! You'd be a wonderful midwife. Thanks for talking to me last night. Feel much better now. Even ended up at being invited out for dinner with four lovely *men*. One of them was especially lovely...

Sweet love to you my dear
