Yu Yu Hakusho - Kuwabara/Yuusuke - One-sentence Fic 35-44

Yu Yu Hakusho - Kuwabara/Yuusuke One-sentence fic 35-44

1. A-1, Comfort: It really was nice, Yuusuke thought, the way Kuwabara was so fucking loyal and dependable; sort of comforting, knowing that no matter what happened, Kuwabara would always be right there with him.
   
   
2. A-2, Kiss: Yuusuke wasn't exactly impressed by their first kiss, what with Kuwabara's nose bumping his and the awkward way neither of them knew quite what to do with their hands, but technique aside, the feelings behind it were almost overwhelming; Kuwabara thought the whole thing was pretty close to perfect (it got better every time).
   
   
3. A-3, Soft: He'd never been a cat person - felt pretty indifferent toward them, really - but Yuusuke knew that Kuwabara and his cats came as a package deal, all or none; he was surprised, though, when he realized he'd actually developed something of a soft spot for the cats, too.
   
   
4. A-4, Pain: Kuwabara thought nothing could ever hurt more than Yuusuke leaving, but he realized that he'd been wrong: it wasn't the leaving that hurt worst, it was how empty he still felt when Yuusuke came back.
   
   
5. A-5, Potatoes: A nasty case of the flu had so thoroughly knocked Kuwabara on his ass that attending the festival wasn't even something he thought was worth thinking about; Yuusuke slipped out and returned with two of the roasted sweet potatoes that he knew the redhead liked, and as they sat on the couch together and ate, huddled under a pile of blankets, Kuwabara didn't even mind missing the festival (much).
   
   
6. A-6, Rain: The heavy rain soaked Kuwabara almost immediately as he ran after Yuusuke, making everything seem dark and strange, which didn't help Kuwabara's mood as he realized that he was always, always chasing, and never getting any closer to catching.
   
   
7. A-9, Telephone: Word finally reached Yuusuke (after being whispered all through the school's gossip network) that Kuwabara wanted to meet him after school, wanted to crush him (as IF that guy could!), and Yuusuke was ready for a fight; somehow he didn't expect the nervous-looking (nervous? he should be!) redhead to kiss him and the punch was purely reflex, really - it took them quite a while to work things out.
   
   
8. A-13, Death: Kuwabara always had the cold comfort of knowing he'd die before Yuusuke, and he wouldn't ever have to keep going alone; when Yuusuke died (hit-and-run, an irony no one wanted to think about) Kuwabara was lost.
   
   
9. A-26, Forever: Eventually they were both going to die, Yuusuke and Kuwabara both knew this, but afterward, after their deaths, after the pain and the sadness and the separation, they could be together for something like forever - after all, they knew people in the afterlife business.
   
   
10. A-27, Blood: When Yuusuke looked at him, smiled at him, so unlike and expression he'd ever shown before, Kuwabara swore he could actually feel it, in the warmth of his chest, the blood pumping, racing through his veins, the answering smile on his own face.
