Thorn Birds

I guess I'm just not a Thorn Birds person. All those decades ago when it was first published and became a best-seller, I dipped into it and very quickly decided it was boringly bad writing. I didn't bother going any further

Just recently a friend asked why it wasn't on Australia's list of top ten books (recently decided by poll) and enthused about ( Read more... )

You're not alone. I did read it soon after it came out, but even then it reminded this Yank way too much of Gone with the Wind. And not in a good way.

I've read the book, and I remember it, for whatever strange reason, mainly because of the odd thing of a priest shagging someone, and the husband preferring anal sex to any other form of contraception. Must have read it over twenty years ago now, and that's the only things I can recall. Trust me to remember the weirdy sex stuff.
