Revenge?

Nov 03, 2005 08:56

I woke up this morning with a giant, swollen finger. Looks like something bit me in my sleep. Of course, I immediately thought of last week's spider and assumed this must have been the work of his clan. Clever beasts, with their "revenge is best served cold" plan. Best of all was the finger they chose. Very clever indeed.

Maybe it laid babies in your finger or something!

Or maybe it's a joke by Anansi.

I'm not sure which would be worse. Spider babies springing forth from my fingertip, or having become the target of a trickster god? Hmmm...
Probably the spider babies.

Never, never mess with spiders. Not that you can control your instincts. I think it's hilarious she chose the finger I think she chose.

Now done with joking. Do you always swell like that with spider bites? 'Cause for me, that would be very, very unusual and I'd have it checked out.

No worries. I do always swell up with bugbites. It's already started to go down, so I'm sure it's nothing to be concerned about. Thanks!

Also, yes, it is the finger you're thinking. :)

Oh, good. We all react differently.

Maybe you were bitten by something the spider would have caught.

This was going to be my point exactly.

For SHAME! FOR SHAME!

Spiders are our friends.

Dude! This spider was most definitely not my friend. My finger is less swollen now, but still red and itchy.
As long as it doesn't blister or do anything completely nasty, I'll take it as a lesson. Otherwise -- War! War I say!

I'm considering that as a possiblility, but I know this is an insect bite and that it's not a mosquito bite. The only other bitey things I've seen in my apartment are spiders and centipedes, and I've never been bitten by a centipede...

well, if you get nauseuous again today, this might explain why...

The swelling seems to be going down, but I just read up on spider bites and -- even worse -- saw pictures of what can happen. It's making me nervous, but I'm trying not to think too much of it. Probably it'll turn out to be nothing serious...
And thankfully, the nausea seems to have subsided.

"last week's spider" sounds like a band name.
