The door hasn't opened for Roy in longer than he cares to think about. He's not certain why it stopped, honestly, only that one day he'd left Milliways and that he hasn't been able to get back in since. He'd eventually stopped even looking for the entrance, instead trying to forget that it had ever been there as he drove himself harder toward his ( Read more... )

Roy's rendered speechless? Yeah, he's not the only one. Ed was getting himself something to drink from the bar, when he happened to galnce at the door at just the right time. He spots a face he hasn't seen in months, and just freezes up.

It's a good thing he hadn't been trying to consume his drink yet, or it'd probably go all over his shirt.

He stares for a long moment, before his mouth works without his brain. That's usually how it goes, anyway, right? So he opens it real wide. "HOI," he shouts, across the bar. "GET OUT OF HERE, YOU BASTARD."

Roy STARES at Ed for a few long moments. Then the boy's words register and the Flame Alchemist opens his own mouth before fully engaging his brain. Clearly Ed brings out both the best and the worst in him.

"YAH, GO SHUT UP AND BOIL YOUR FAT HEAD, SHORT STUFF!"

We can perhaps blame what Roy says on the stress of his job and complete shock at seeing Ed again. Honestly, you'd think that the guy would be happy! Of course, Ed's picture is in the dictionary next to "perverse," as well as next to "short" and "bean."

"WHO THE HELL," Ed responds, "ARE YOU CALLING A SHORT BEAN THAT'S TOO TALL TO SAY HE MISSED YOUR STUPID FACE."

...

He pauses. That didn't come out the way he wanted it to.

Roy takes a moment to translate that statement; Ed is not the most coherent of people, sometimes. Most of the time, honestly. Of course, not bothering to think means that he sometimes actually says what he thinks.

Which is a good trade-off, really. Roy sighs and shakes his head.

"You haven't changed in the least, Elric."
