Draco was deathly pale, more so than normal, as he eyed the serpent on his arm. It twisted out of the skull’s mouth, hissing viciously at him. This wasn’t right. His father had always said this would make him feel like he had the world in the palm of his hand. Instead, he had a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach, like he’d just made a horrible mistake.
“Is something the matter, boy?” Voldemort hissed.
Draco glanced up before remembering Professor Snape’s advice. Do not hold eye contact. He bowed, “No, Master. I promise. I will not fail.”
