It was nearly four in the morning. Lily wasn’t usually so restless, but today’s Arithmancy test had her worried out of her mind. She’d already showered, dressed, and primped properly and was planning on getting in a few extra hours of study before heading down to breakfast early. James Potter was sitting there in one of the chairs in front of the fire, simply staring at the flickering flames. He was radiating with loneliness, his expression haunted and hallow.
Moving down into the common room, Lily slinked over to the fire, sitting down next to James, “Penny for your thoughts?”
