Oh my goodness! How perfect, and the Wild Hunt! Even Severus judges himself by his cover, but there is so much more there. Abraxas can see him, and he and Abraxas see the ancient magic! I also love the bird imagery - so vivid and fresh. What a star of a story. Thank you thank you thank you.

I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. I hadn't known about the Wild Hunt until I did the research for your prompt, and it was a lovely thing to discover. I couldn't find much about Abraxas, so I decided that he would be like a great old oak tree (if that makes any sense). I'm with you- the Death Eaters aren't cartoon villains. Dark and Light are equally important.

I'm glad it worked! I worried that the bird conceit would be over the top. Abraxas intrigues me. I've never seen a strong portrayal of him as a unique force. I can't picture him as just a meaner clone of Lucius. The Malfoy line has deep roots, after all. This was a wonderful challenge--thanks for running it!

This is a fascinating scene that makes me thirst for more. What if Abraxas had spent more time with Severus -- would it be enough to stop the Malfoys from remaining with Voldy? What if the members of the Wild Hunt had taken Severus and Abraxas with them? Thank you for the marvelous ficlet!
