Harry snuggled into the large shape next to him on the large couch in front of the fire. “Thank you.”

“For what, Harry?” replied Severus.

“For not expecting anything of me except my company. I don’t have to be ‘Harry Potter’ for you, especially at Christmas.”

“That may be because I absolutely loathe ‘Harry Potter’. My Harry, he of the emerald eyes, kind heart and tight arse, him I like.”

Harry smiled, then his face changed. “Oh! I almost forgot, I have a gift for you.”

“We already exchanged gifts, love, or did you forget?” Severus worried. Harry sometimes had forgotten things since the final battle. It was one of the causes of his breakup with the Weasley chit.

“No, I didn’t forget, Sev. I just had one more thing for you, and I had to wait until she was awake. She’s nocturnal.”

“Dear Merlin, Harry. Wherever did you find a Winter Puff?”

“Luna did, actually. This is a pup; she’s already bonding to me. You know how this works, right?”

“Yes, of course. A Winter Puff only bonds to a couple deeply in love.”

“I think it may work, seeing as she’s been willing to stay here.” Harry took a deep breath and held the little beast out to his lover.

Severus put his hands out to accept the animal, and when his and Harry’s hands touched, the little animal sent out a pulse of magic.

“Merry Christmas, my love.” Both men spoke, then leaned in for a kiss.
