It is highly recommended that you save a screen shot of your work, as ArtPad can flake out unexpectedly. To print the screen:
For a PC: Hit 'Alt' and 'PrintScreen' (button to the right of F12 on a standard desktop computer, on the very top row of keys) at the same time. (Sometimes the 'PrintScreen' key is called 'PrintScreen/SysRq' or 'PrtSc' or "PrintScreen". Even if you have a laptop, PrintScreen is usually found in the top right hand corner. You might have to hit the button that allow you to access function keys to use PrintScreen on a laptop.)
Anyway, you hit 'Alt' and 'PrintScreen' at the same time. Then you open Microsoft Paint -- it's under 'Applications' or 'Tools' or 'Accessories' in your programs menu.
Once in Paint, you click on the main window and hit 'ctrl-v' to paste the complete screen shot. You will get the entire contents of your active window, including the image you want to save. If you are unfamiliar with Paint, you might want to save this whole screen immediately, just in case.
Now you have the entire image in the Paint window. Chose the select tool, which is a box outlined in dashes. Starting in one corner of your image, hold down the right mouse button and drag the box over the image to select the area you want. Cut the box out out (Edit-Cut from the top menu, or ctrl-x from the keyboard).
Go to the top menu of Paint and select File-New. Copy the cut-out image by selecting Edit-Paste from the Paint menu, or ctrl-v from the keyboard.
Use File-Save As in the Paint menu, or ctrl-s from the keyboard. Save the image as a .gif or .jpg file. and upload this to
photobucket or
tinypic (caution -- either might automatically resize your drawings),
Flickr,
pbase,
fotolog, or any similar site. Copy the "http" link the site gives you, and post in your entry to the contest.
You can also email the link, drawing, or complete screen shot with surrounding area to the
snapeartcontest mods, who will put it on photobucket and provide you with an address for posting.
If you have a Mac, you just use 'Grab', which makes high quality screen shots very easy. You can also do Shift-Apple-3 to make an image file on your desktop. Post on
photobucket as above or email the image to us for posting on a public site.
