you know, you would think that on a non-religious college campus of all places, people would be more sensitive of the fact that the majority of people around are liberal, and there's a very high chance that any person you run into will be at least pro-LGBT rights, if not a member of the community themselves. I suspect that if she keeps up being that vocal about her attitudes, she will get her comeuppance, and sometime in the very near future...I know i'd have a good 'discussion' with her if I ran into her and she was behaving like that!

While reading Hitting Hard by Michelangelo Signorile (Highly recomend the book) I found this revelent quote:

"Though immaculate and white, Temple Square-spiritual center of the Mormon Church in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City-has a dark feel to it. Despite the bright and friendly smiles from welcoming church women, and the whimsical, spired temple itself, looking like something from Disney's Magic Kingdom, the unyielding uniformity of the place is a tip-off that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) doesn't tolerate in the slightest those of us who tread on life's sexual outskirts. There is a rich history to this animosity-a history that paradoxically begins with the Mormon Church's onetime support for same-sex affection."

You see Matt, people who are homophobic because of their religion, well, they don't have to be apologetic about it, because really, they weren't the ones who decided it was wrong to be gay, God did. God approves, I'm sure, of the mass genocide, war, and oppression that has gone on for centuries, in the name of religion... but two dudes kissing each other... no way, clearly that's wrong. :(

Gotta love people who use religion as an excuse to hate. :(
