Warnings: Spoilers for Pandora Hearts Chapter 47
Dream Effects: It's very warm and calming, and Eliot feels flashes of understanding, frustrated worry, and a little bit of happiness, though he would never admit it.
“… I’ll tell you again. Your uncle lacks the dignity of a duke!”
Eliot was sitting at the base of a tree, glaring pretty much at nothing… And he was sitting next to Oz Bezarius. It was bright and sunny. Just behind the tree, a long table was set out, and it was filled with teapots and platters of snacks. There were Pandora officers indulging in the food, and very observant viewers can probably make out Oz’s uncle, his sister, Gilbert, Liam, Break, Sharon, Alice, and finally Reo, who was approaching Eliot and Oz, carefully holding a cup of tea.
“Ah, maybe you’re right.” Oz had a huge grin on his face, but it became more subdued quickly. “But… Everyone is smiling…”
One would typically expect Eliot to yell at Oz, or try to keep himself away from him in some way, but he wasn’t doing either. Eliot just looked at Oz, not knowing exactly what to say, but he was quickly saved as Reo came up behind him and held out the teacup to his master.
As Eliot reached to take the cup, Oz stood up, stretching out his arms. “Mmm~ The sun feels so good!”
Eliot looked down at the contents of the teacup, considering it for a moment before he finally took a sip. As rare as it is, Eliot finally gave a small smile.
“… This tea is pretty good.”
The instant Oz turned around to look, with his huge grin, Eliot had returned to his usual somewhat annoyed look, more out of habit then anything else. He kept sipping the tea, as Reo went to go get some tea for himself, and as Oz came back to lean against the tree. Eliot tried to act as if he wouldn’t respond to him, but his gaze kept flicking over to Oz, who was looking up at the sky. After a long moment, Eliot finally spoke up.
“… Liam told me a lot of things on your behalf.”
Oz looked down at him, blinking in surprise. “Huh?”
“So many things happened after you were cast into the abyss… Yeah… Well…” It was getting harder to talk with Oz looking straight at him. Eliot chose to look off into the distance in front of him instead.
“…. I didn’t know the first thing about you, so I convinced myself you were just another cowardly, hypocritical Bezarius… Just like my father said.”
Eliot’s expression didn’t change. He seemed to be somewhat distant. He didn’t look up to see if Oz was still even listening to him. Eliot brought his knees up, resting his arms on them.
“Now that I can see things with my own eyes… Everything seems so different. I want to judge everything with my own eyes.” His eyebrows furrowed as his expression became more serious. He clutched onto his left hand, and it was clear the subject his mind was turning to made him mad, but he wasn’t losing control. “The same goes for the headhunter. It’s not like I want to kill her… It’s not revenge I’m after. But… I want to know why all this happened. And then of course, that bastard will have to undergo judgment!”
“… Yeah.” Reo’s voice came from behind Eliot. He leaned over, smiling at Eliot as his master stared at him in surprise. “You can do it. You will make it… Eliot.”
… A moment passed, and slowly, Eliot’s expression changed to what may just have been the most genuine smile he had ever given anyone.
“E- Eliot!” Eliot turned his head to look up at Oz, confused as to why he was interrupting the moment. “Now… You and I… We’re f-friends, aren’t we?!”
Eliot just stared at him blankly. Where the hell did that come from? “What?”
Oz moved to kneel by Eliot and Reo on the ground, looking somwhat desperate. “If what you said’s true… Let’s work together to change the relationship between the Bezarius and the Nightray houses!” As Oz spoke, Eliot just stared at him, wide eyed. “We’ve gotten to know one another’s houses, and we’ve realized that this situation is ridiculous! So… Let’s try to make other people realize it to!”
“… How?” Eliot asked. Oz went pale. He was clearly not prepared to answer that.
“O-our friendship will be an inspiration to them… Or something like that…” …. Eliot and Reo both started laughing uncontrollably. Oz instantly blushed. “DON’T LAUGH!”
“You idiot!” Eliot got out between laughs. “As if that would work!”
Oz looked completely embarrassed as the two boys kept laughing. Finally, he plopped down, sitting next to them again, supposedly defeated.
“Even so…” Eliot began as he finally stopped laughing. “That doesn’t mean it can’t be done.
Oz looked over at Eliot as the other raised his fist up to him. Nothing happened for a second. Eliot just held it there, glaring like it should be obvious what he was trying to do. Oz’s eyes widened in realization, and he responded accordingly…

The scene was so calm that, for once, Eliot didn't jolt awake like he did after his usual nightmares... However, the second he realized what he just saw, his eyes widened, and a look of shock and utter confusion went over his features. What the--- He was friends with the shorty?! What the hell did that come from?! And... Why would he ever talk about the headhunter with Oz Bezarius anyway? He never saw himself trusting anyone from the Bezarius family with that information, ever.
Eliot already wanted to pass off what he just saw as only a dream, but for some reason, he couldn't convince himself that it was as simple as that...
