For what it involved but also... the sheer idea that it looked just like Elliot's dad was just like his. Giving the same exact look as his had. A hand clutched at his chest faintly as he swallowed deeply and tried to remember how to breathe]
E-Elliot...
Are you... going to be alright?
[It was all he could say after that, looking a bit pale at the memory of his own father
[Elliot winced upon hearing the sound coming from his Dreamberry. He knew this was coming, he just didn't expect that hearing Oz's voice would cause his headache to feel even worse. Reluctantly, he reached over to his bedside table and grabbed the phone and got a good look at Oz's face.]
... Are you?
[To him, the kid looked almost like the dream meant more to him then it did to Elliot himself.]
[A blink and he rubs at his cheeks to try and rise some color in them while offering a sheepish smile] Yeah~ I'll be fine~
I just... was surprised to see all of that. That first part... it happened back in Yura's Manor, right?
[Only now is he realizing that this is the first time he's spoken to Elliot after having seen him dead back home when he'd been there a few weeks back. So that's not helping much]
[Great. It was getting to the point that everyone in the house knew what happened. It was always confusing, having to remember what time everyone was from. Not that he wanted to hide what he'd done though.]
[It had been a few days since Noel woke up from her week-long sleep, though she chose not to make a fuss about it through the network. She had been getting ready for another work day, but flipping through the Dreamberry made it clear that today wasn't going to be easy.
How many times had it been for the past year that she ended up viewing those dreams of his? Yet, she could never get used to it. How could she? He never deserved any of that... It's all just terrible and horrifying to her.
Seconds before the dream concluded, she had already dropped her Dreamberry and made a quick run towards Elliot's room. Her hand grabs the door's knob and attempts to barge in, hoping that the door was unlocked. Noel didn't care if it was impolite or intrusive. She was worried, and wanted to see him.]
[He'd spent the rest of the night tossing in his bed, not wanting to have anymore nightmares, but also wanting to sleep if only to escape the pain in his head. It didn't work. No matter how much sleep he'd gotten, he still had to go to work.
Halfway through getting dressed, he sat down on his bed and put his head in his hands. Breathing deeply, he wondered if he really could handle a day of work with a headache like this.
... And then his door slammed open. He jerked back, half reaching for the sword that was propped up next to his bed, only to see that it was Noel.]
Knock you idiot!
[Instead of grabbing the sword, the hand that was reaching automatically went to his dress shirt, that was still opened because he hadn't finished getting ready yet.]
GH---?! [Noel practically chokes on what she's about to say once she notices the circumstances. Her hands cover her steadily reddening face as she sputters an apology.]
S-Sorry! I... I was... that is...! I, um, was worried and I wanted to see you but I wasn't thinking a-and...!
[Her hands slowly leave her face as she decides to focus on the floor beneath her. Noel frowns, obviously dejected by all this.]
But I guess I'm pretty late, huh?
[God, she feels like such an idiot. She ended up sleeping through when he probably needed someone to be there for him...]
[Elliot turned around to finish buttoning and then shoved off the bed to grab his coat, which was hanging over the back of the chair to his desk. He chose not to respond, knowing full well just why she'd done it.]
A little bit.
[As much as he knew he did appreciate that she cared, he didn't want her getting worked up like this every time. He knew he had a lot of nightmares. He didn't want her treating him like a traumatized child each time he had one, no matter how alarming they were.]
[It takes her several minutes after viewing the dream to be able to reply. By then, her tears have finally dried and she's convinced that she'll be able to speak to him without letting her voice betray her own broken heart.]
[He had been so distracted by the headache that he hadn't thought to even try to filter the dream from anyone yet. The second he heard that he had a call, he knew immediately who it had to be from. How many times was he going to subject her to things like this? It was too much to wish that she could forget, but the least he could do is not remind her of what happened with his dreams.]
[She keeps her voice as soft as possible, but it's difficult after what she just saw. That wasn't entirely a memory...it couldn't be. Their father had never appeared in Elliot's dreams before. Seeing him now after what Vincent had said is more painful than she wants to admit.]
[There are all kinds of apologies on Leo's tongue as he pretty much crashes into Elliot's room, eyes wide and panicked behind black bangs, throat clogged up. This dream... This dream this dream this dream.
Is these the kind of dreams Elliot has had to suffer through for so long?
All because of him--]
E-Elliot?
[He doesn't let out any of those apologies, because they get him nowhere, and Elliot doesn't like them.]
[Leo would barge in to see Elliot still halfway in bed, one hand up to his forehead as he had been trying to will away the pounding in his skull. The other hand was ripping the sheets off of him so that he could protect himself if he had to... But he quickly relaxed, seeing who was at the door.]
[Even though he knew that in spite of his words, he was still sorry.
He doesn't really want to answer the second question. Of course he wasn't, but this was nowhere near the first time he had dreams like this one. He felt miserable about it, but sadly, he was starting to get used to the nightmares. If he was fully honest, Leo would just feel worse. However, his emotions weren't the only thing contributing to how he felt this time.]
[For once, he doesn't know what to say. He should just play the whole thing off somehow, shouldn't he? But he's lost Elliot once, he's seen him die. He's been unable to help him, even when he wanted.
Now, Elliot is here, and he's failing just as badly all over again, isn't he?]
[Vincent got angry at her very easily, he thought, but of course, Vanessa deserved to be angry at him. He was the one who cut up all of her clothes, and just about everything she owned.]

It was just a dream.

You shouldn't have to see this.

Don't say you're sorry.
