The Twenty Random Facts Fest
This is my entry for the HARRY POTTER RANDOM FACTS FEST a wonderful idea for short fics!
In keeping with my current mood, I've chosen my pairing of the moment - AD/SS, but there are loads of others on the site, do have a look.
Title: Twenty Random Facts about Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape

Characters: Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape.
Rating: R-ish, for slashyness
Summary: The relationship between Albus and Severus is often difficult, but it endures.
Warnings: - SLASH, which means a Male/Male sexual relationship is discussed throughout. No graphic description or sex scenes, but if this is not to your taste then please do not read this fic.

1) Albus Dumbledore remembers feeling resentful towards his mother and teachers for interfering in his life too much when he was young. When he became headmaster, he vowed to let the children develop independently into adults, only offering guidance if they came to him first. It took him far too long to understand that not everyone was as self-assured as he had been, and that those most in need of help were least likely to ask for it.
2) The injustice he saw in the aftermath of the Shrieking Shack incident made Severus Snape violently angry. He found the Room of Requirement a handy place to curse, kick and scream his until he was too exhausted to feel any more. He plotted a new way to torture the biased old bastard Albus Dumbledore to death every night. He thought having this desire in common with Lord Voldemort would be enough to sustain a lifetime of serving his self-aggrandising cause. It was not.
3) Severus has always known himself to be abnormal. He knows that everything about him is extreme. His black hair and pale face. His tremendous intellect and his social incompetence. His incredible mood swings. The way his murderous loathing of Albus turned to passionate adoration once the older man saved him from his own darkness.
4) Albus knows that Severus’ feelings for him are very complicated.
5) They like to walk at the edge of the Forbidden Forest just after the rain, when everything smells fresh and the birds are singing.
6) Severus is not sure he understands ‘love’ and sometimes finds it hard to understand why Albus wastes himself on such an unworthy partner, when there are pretty and witty and charming people all over the world sending the old man fanmail.
7) Sometimes Severus does Bad Things to see if Albus will stop loving him.
8) He hasn’t so far.
9) Albus wishes that Severus would not test him with meaningless infidelities and harsh words.
10) Especially as Severus always ends up hurting himself as deeply as he hurts Albus.
11) Severus sometimes stays up all night inventing a new sweet treat for Albus to try, but pretends it only took ten minutes.
12) Albus knows it was wrong to seduce Severus the night when he returned to Hogwarts and to the Light. There was something so attractive in the raw and vulnerable way the boy laid bare his soul which called out to Albus’ own dark streak. He hadn’t felt such voracious lust for over fifty years.
13) Severus sometimes thinks that going to bed with Albus must be a condition of his freedom from Azkaban.
14) Albus must have told him a thousand times that the immunity from prosecution and the fantastic sex are unrelated.
15) Severus once wondered aloud if Albus would hand him over to the aurors if they split up.
16) Albus slapped him. Then was paralysed with self-hatred for a day and a half.
17) Albus will never ever tell Severus what he had to do to Barty Crouch to make sure he gave the right verdict at Severus’ trial.
18) Alastor Moody knows. He has gadgets to detect that sort of thing.
19) Severus’ moments of anxiety and doubt will never obscure the fact that he would die a thousand deaths if it would please his lover.
20) Albus Dumbledore’s favourite colour is black.
