A Question of Territory, Part Two

Jan 16, 2007 10:06

Horace felt strange, knocking on the door of his old chambers, but the warning wards on the door had hinted at rather unpleasant consequences when he tried to simply walk in.

The door cracked open just enough to allow a thin beak of a nose to poke out, as though sniffing for trouble.

“Yes?” snapped That Boy.

“Ah, Severus! Just popping ( Read more... )

I very much look forward to snape's response.

Your horace is scarily canonesque. Quite pervy...or perhaps i read too literally.

I liked this: "I will never, ever forget you said that"....i can totally picture snape saying this.

I have no idea where you're going with this...but it certainly is interesting.

Thanks! Perhaps I've got Slughorn a bit too close to Richard Griffiths' character in The History Boys, but I don't think he's actually a kiddie fiddler. A man who voluntarily turns himself into an armchair to avoid talking to an old friend was always going to be a bit odd. Or perhaps Dumbledore's twinkly eyes are enough to make you go to extreme lengths after a long period of time.

As usual, I have no idea where I'm going with this either! But thank you for joining in the journey!

*picks self up from floor*

*tries to stifle internal whooping laughter*

Priceless.

Snape smiled again, obviously receptive to the instructions of a wise elder. Horace decided he would like a smidgeon more milk and reached for the jug, only to find the contents had curdled.

"How strange!" he exclaimed.

The whole thing has just the perfect amount of humor at the cost of poor Snape's state of mind. I'm greatly looking forward to seeing how he gets even, especially with how much was implied by Part One and the part of "I assure you, Horace," he smiled again, still speaking with respectful softness. "That I will never, ever forget you said that."

Sluggie didn't learn that sometimes people are at their most dangerous when they speak softly.

Oh, I'm glad this amused you! I want to start a campaign for more Sluggy in fandom, he has so much potential! He struck me as a person who hears what he wants to hear, rather than what is being said, and Snape, of course, has PhD in sarcasm.

I'm seeing the looks of pure terror on the faces of the little Slytherins at the thought of Snape puckering up for a kiss and saying 'Night night, sleep tight, don't let any stray lethifolds slither under your door and devour your helpless little corpse during the night.'

*climbs back into chair, cackling still*

The horror! *hides under the covers*

Yes, Sluggie is definitely underutilized. I've seen him in maybe two other stories, and used to great effect. I'm pretty sure they were both on LJ, perhaps in snape_rarepairs... I don't recall off of the top of my head atm.
