I clocked up my second viewing of Half Blood Prince today. Still very enjoyable but I found myself a bit mystified. In another thread on a friend's post, some people were saying that they had not seen the bit in the trailer where Snape says "It's Over" but I was sure I had! So I looked out for it today, and lo, it was not there! I could have sworn ( Read more... )

At last managing to catch up on a few LJ posts!

I reckon their ought to be some kind of license for cinema going... like a driving test. LOL. If you can't learn how to behave condsiderately... you can't ruddywell go! Gawd. It's just as well I don't rule the world...

All I've seen for that new Sherlock Holmes is the movie poster in the cinema. But just that atrracted me. Must go and look see when it starts because I'll watch anything Holmes related. And speaking of Holmes have you read any of the Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes books by Laurie R. King? Those are really excellent whodunnits - the first one being The Beekeeper's Apprentice. You're most welcome to borrow mine at some stage.

I've always loved the Holmes thing but prefer the more "canon" Holmes on screen and off. But I would like to try those Mary Russell ones next time we meet up. (Ooh, have just found one on Audible, (Justice Hall) and some others from the same author with a Holmes influence. The Art of Detection?)

Justice Hall is number 6 in the series. It's not strictly necessary to read them in order but they make more sense. I'm only up to number 4 - the list is here:

which is The Moor, set on Dartmoor, I thought it was the best so far.

The Art of Detection doesn't ring a bell. Might be by someone else?
