Reflections on another Ashes win

I am a jinx. I know that because if I sit and watch anything where England or someone English is competing in anything, they always lose! So I don't watch  live TV matches anymore. I'm not really a cricket fan but don't loathe it the way I loathe football. What a load of prima donnas they all are and the salaries are obscene! My drug of choice is athletics so I've been glued to the world championships all week. It's been fantastic and I'm going to miss it now it's over.

What a wonderful morning it is! (Not.)

It got better - at least here. Friend of mine was going to Lundy on the Waverley today so hope she didn't have a rough crossing.

Totally agree with you about football. Why should they get the kind of wages they have for just kicking a ball about? What irritates me the most are the endless ads on Sky for the "game" and their assumption that the whole nation cannot wait to glue them selves to the tv to watch! It would be interesting to actually do a survey on actually how many do! I have read one book about football, sort of. It was about McRaes Battalion in the first world war as the whole Hearts team joined up. But football was so different then.....
