I'm in the ongoing process of devising and carrying out experiments. These experiments will involve mostly socially conditioned behavior, of which I find I have an increasing interest. My first experiment started last Thursday, January 14th. No meat for 30 days. Today is Day 6. I have several friends who are much further along, they started on ( Read more... )

In November I did a week of detox where I couldn't eat meat, dairy, or gluten. It was hard, but surprisingly I didn't miss meat as much as I missed bread and cheese! I felt great too! But I'm pretty much back to my old ways now, it's hard when you don't have time to plan meals or access to a lot of vegetarian restaurants to keep it up. Good luck with the rest of your 30 days! Yeah but it was only for a week.

Here's the recipe:

Mix together in a large bowl:
6 tbs. Red Wine Vinegar
1 tbs. canola/corn oil
1.5 tbs. hot sauce (I used tabasco)
.5 tsp. of pepper
2 tsp. chopped garlic
1 chopped avocado
1 can corn (drain and rinse corn)
1 can black eyed peas w/o snaps (drain and rinse also)
1/2 cup fresh chopped cilantro
3/4 cup chopped green onion
5-6 Roma tomatoes chopped (I used a bunch of cherry tomatoes cut in half)

I had a friend who was a devout vegan for years, but ended up giving it up for health reasons. Something about a vegan diet can cause a person to have gall stones repeatedly, although you'd have to look into that more to understand the science behind it--sorry I don't remember.
