"It was supposed to be a perfect day," Natalie said numbly.
Dan sat down beside her. "It was."
Natalie glared at him.
"Maybe not the whole day," Dan backtracked, "but it was good up until the end."
"Dan, the cake got mixed up and we got one with lemon rind in it!"
"Right."
"Which Dana's allergic to!"
"The doctor said she's fine and she'll be out in a minute. And the two bites I got to try tasted good."
"And then when he was helping her to the car to bring her here, Casey was stung by a bee!"
"Right."
"Which he's allergic to!"
"We were headed here anyways; couldn't've timed it better if we tried. And he'll be out in a few minutes too."
"Dan, two of my closest friends nearly died at my wedding reception; I think I'm entitled to my bad mood."
"First, they didn't nearly die. They both had minor reactions and we only came here to be absolutely certain. Second..." Dan trailed off.
"What?"
"Look." Dan pointed at Jeremy weaving back to them, trying to balance three coffee cups without spilling any on his suit. "You're married."
Natalie caught Jeremy's eye and beamed. "I am."
