possibly my new favorite word...

Pulchritude. (see below)

What an ugly word too.

Also, 2 days to Peru!

Now, then, there was a really good article on MSN today about how to be happy. Good stuff (minus the stupid slideshow images)...I really believe a lot of this.

Though she was quite pulchritudinous, her callipygian friend brought all the boys to the yard. Ah, how I loved Latin class in high school. :D

I totally disagree about the $40k thing. $400k, maybe, but $40k is definitely not it.

you'd be amazed. I fully believe that after a point, where your basic needs are met, the rest is icing. A corvette is not your basic need. I will say this. Your paycheck has vastly less impact on your subjective well being than does job enjoyment and satisfaction.

A typical highly processed perversion of flimsy sociological studies fed to the masses in concise one-liners.
40K would not satisfy my basic needs - it would barely cover my annual rent and daycare expenses. Maybe with another 5K for food, soap, and toilet paper I could be perfectly happy...or maybe I should just spend it all on improving my pulchritude

you know, having been without toilet paper or toilet SEATS and in some cases the entire toilet itself the last several days, it is possible to live without. Regardless, there´s a point anywhere (don´t focus on the number), and beyond that excess does not greatly improve happiness.
