After like 5 or 6 years of having a LJ account simply for the sake of one specific friend, I've decided to start making new ones. You seem like an interesting one.
I can't guarantee that I'll comment much, but I like to read!
Hi! I think you might be friends with my friend Paige (likeinabook) but I can't remember. I'm an LJ moron, FYI.
I'm just writing to ask, if you don't mind sharing, what kind of education do you have so far? You mentioned on your response to my booju post, that you would love the kind of job I do, and that you need to go back to school. I just wanted to let you know that there are some companies who use this model that don't require a full bachelor's degree-- we only needed ours because at our company, I also have some additional administrative responsibilities in addition to the regular family teaching position (I teach some day programming classes in addition to regular home management duties). Anyway, if you have any background in social service and/or special education and/or psychology, and truly are interested, let me know. I think it's a great lifestyle. You do also need to have a partner of some sort, though (married, life partner, etc).
Well, do you have any kind of experience? I ask only because my present company just had a horrible outflux of family teachers, and they're pretty desperate, so I don't know how much education is going to play a part, especially if your husband works in a group home. I didn't mean to be so intrusive; I just like to hear people talk about this kind of thing as their "dream job," because if that's your attitude, it will actually BE a dream job. If you ever want more info, let me know.

Does your company have any homes in Oregon? Or if not your company, how would you find a company that does offer services like yours?
