Happy Pedant's Saint Patrick's Day

Mar 15, 2008 07:53

Are you wearing green today? Normally Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17, but when that falls during Holy Week the church moves the celebration to another day. The last time that this happened was in 1940, when Saint Patrick's Day was moved to April 3.

I'm going to wear green again on Monday anyway, just to avoid getting pinched.

Ah, that explains why the Leprechaun was at the school on Friday. The kids kept saying that "Patrick's Day" was Friday, but I kept telling them that no it was Monday.

I guess that's better than dragging them all in on a Saturday for the celebration. Is it a Catholic school?

LOL. :) No, just a regular public school.

So were these people on the ball and aware of the change or just mistaken? I figured it was pretty nerdy of me to know this.
