The end of this entry made me think of an older gentleman I sometimes see on his porch when I walk my dog. I don't know his name. He always greets me but that is about it.

It's very encouraging, for some reason, to see him on the porch when I walk by and I'm a little down whenever I walk and he isn't there.

I guess it's just a greeting. We don't know each other well at all. But I do value his kindness.

I enjoyed reading your entry!

I'm sure he values yours as well -- I wonder if he thinks the same thing when he doesn't see you walk by on those days. ;)

I was happy to see the bit of Lord of the Rings poetry in your piece. ^_^

I'd carve drainage lines in the dirt of the road and our driveway to run the water off more efficiently.

I'm impressed you thought of that. :)

It was actually a ton of fun, lol. Playing in the mud with a purpose, so to speak. ;)

Thanks for reading!

This was a great read- really beautiful. It reminded me of mowing the lawn and my grandparents' old summer home in New Jersey, where we had so much space to just run around.
