Unfortunately, if you switch back to your original faction, they only allow you to switch to your original race and nothing else. So, for example, you could do Human > Troll > Human, but not Human > Troll > Dwarf.

But they've said they'll be offering race changes shortly, probably by the time Icecrown comes out.

No, in the faction change FAQ it specifically says you'll be able to pick whatever race your class allows when you switch back.

Race changes probably proved popular enough that they'll be offering those as a separate service shortly.

I look at it the same way I look at when they futz around with talents to such an extent that they reset your talent points free - they've changed racials around a LOT from patch to patch, or else changed the game to make certain racials less attractive, and given that, they SHOULD make intra-faction race changes available
