This is something I feel REALLY strongly about. I was very nearly raped by a guy friend of mine. Why did I luck out? Because another friend happened to show up at the right time which freaked out the guy trying to rape me and caused him to stop.
It took me a while to tell people about it because I felt ashamed, but more that since I was lucky there was nothing to say about it. However, that is so NOT true. Whether you were raped or nearly raped, you still experience trauma. And going through that trauma means that you should speak out and let others know and then gain support from whoever you can.
I'm glad you posted this. We all need to be reminded. Thanks, sweetheart!!!
Thank you so much, sweetie. Rape is so wrong and it's good that we're all spreading the word and reminding everyone. We really should do it more often.
I cannot tell you how scary this post is with my beautiful son's face right behind the words. It's so hard to imagine him grown, not to mention capable of such a horrible thing. I'm scared to death about what to do or say to make sure that he doesn't grow into that kind of man. This however reminded me that I have to and I'd better start thinking about it now.
