Joss plays dressup.

It's time to watch Joss play dress-up!

Maryellen's Pretty Pink Dress: the box. Ooh. Ahh. To be fair, I do love the logo they've got for ME.

As you can see, you get a dress, a pair of lacy gloves, a pair of shoes, and a ribbon hair barette. Ooh.

Closer. Initially I was kinda bummed by the barrette, but I think it actually works. It's teeny tiny, however.

But still looks very nice in the hair.

To piggyback off the last picture, we'll start with the shoes. These aren't flimsy shoes. I twitch when people drool and moan about how something feels very Pleasant Company, but these do. There's a bit of a heft to them and they feel sturdy. If your doll throws these at someone, it's gonna hurt. :P

Did you ever want to send your doll to prom? Well, this would probably work quite well...

Here we see my biggest problem with this dress and why I didn't buy it immediately after it came out. The bodice goes out of its way to show off the part of the doll I try my best to not bring attention to. Also...

The flowers just don't work for me. The cut might be very 50's. I don't know. I just know that I see this and I cringe.

The back is nice and you can see that all the details go all the way around like they should.

I don't love AG's mitten gloves but it is what it is at this point. Truly, any more detailed and they'd be a mess and without them it wouldn't feel historically accurate.

The embroidery is where the price really makes sense, especially since it goes all the way around the dress.

I have mixed feelings on this dress. On the one hand, this sucker is $44 and for that price, I'd better be in-fucking-love. However, I did get a gazillion and one points for this, which will buy me something shiny very soon. So I consider this a sale purchase and that helps. The color is lovely, and this is from someone who isn't a pink mega fan. I think Joss looks dreamy in it and I think that'll be true of any doll, really. Sometimes you just want something delightfully frilly and feminine and this definitely fits the bill.

I know, Joss. I'm tired, too.

Warm Wishes PJs: the box

Out of the box! This part is going to be shorter because about this time, I got very, very tired. Not sure why, but I'm also tired now so that's not helping. Anyway, the slippers shed fuzz which you can see on the blanket back there. I'm also not 100% sure I didn't put them on the wrong feet/

They're very soft but I freaking hate that huge hang tag. WHY, AG. WHY.

Most of the pictures I took of these PJs had them looking like they were riding up, which is why we're down to just these few. Whoops. I got these when they hit closeout price ($10) and for that price, I'm happy. These feel like a nice weight, as they aren't too thick nor are they too thin. I didn't keep these on Joss because they felt too heavy for how hot it was in my room at the time (yes, sometimes I'm one of those people) and also because they're white and since she won't be in the closet for awhile yet, I didn't want them to get gross.

I do have a problem with them, however, and it's that since the buttons are functional, they are a right royal bitch to manage if you have dexterity issues. I suspect that a few changes in and out of these and that'll soften them up a bit, but it's definitely something to keep in mind.

I think Joss looks cute in them, but I'm not sure they'll be hers after all. Maybe Sonali will steal them.

Last week I did a little ebay shopping without a plan, and I wound up with three outfits that I've had on my wish list for a bit. One of them, Josefina's Harvest Outfit is not shown. I don't have Josefina (she's one I'll have to pick in person or grab via ebay) and didn't feel like hunting down Mariana to wear it. It was also mostly bought because the store I bought the next outfit from was having a sale if you bought two. Pretty sure mine didn't come with the ribbon now that I think about it. Ah well.

Kirsten's Midsummer Dress

So Kirsten's Midsummer Outfit is something I missed entirely during my time away from AG. To be fair, I don't think I got many catalogs in that time. Anyway, I found out about it a few years after it was long gone and it was more in a "wait, is this legit?" way after perusing ebay and finding it going for some ungodly sum. I just bought the dress, which is probably why it wasn't the cost of a firstborn child. I don't look at it and see Kirsten in the slightest, but I think it's lovely.

So lovely that I'm going to share nearly identical photos. Sorry.

Again, I was lazy and didn't rustle up some accessories (shoes, socks) but I think it actually works for this dress. It feels like something you could wear while barefoot, which is how I spent most of my summers as a kid. Hell, it's how I spend most of my time at home now so...

Here, Joss looks pretty much identical to Widget's youngest cousin on his mother's side. Identical.

I don't have anything really to say beyond I love the dress and it makes my purple loving soul very happy. It's fairly thick, so you don't really worry about it being see through or cheap. I think Joss looks super cute in various other eras, too.

Next in Joss's historical cosplay series, we have Felicity's Summer Outfit. I bet on the wrong auction (probably) and didn't chase after the complete outfit as I figured it'd go for something insanely high as it normally/used to. It didn't. I bought this, which just has the lace cap, dress, and sash, and y'know what? I'm not too upset. I've been in love with this dress for years and it lives up to that hype.

Look at it! *swoons*

To be fair, the gown is a bit thin and see-through. But I suspect you're expected to have her shift underneath so that might have something to do with it.

Let's be honest: the sash is what makes this dress. The colors are stunning and they elevate this from a pretty dress to one that's haunted me for years. ♥ One of these days I'll track down the shoes and hat. Until then, I'm quite happy having just this portion of the outfit.

We end with the mix and match outfit pieces. Overall, I think this is a cute set and I'm glad I picked it up. I'd meant to include the jacket, but again I was too hot to consider putting it on a doll.

I think this actually suits Joss pretty well, though by this time I was used to her in historical gear.

Not gonna untie the shirt. Not currently sure I'm capable of retying it and also, it just looks silly when undone, though I suppose you could just tuck it in. The twist works here, so I'm leaving it.

Shorts. Ooh. Ahh. They're not tight, either. If I'm being honest, I'd have totally worn these as a kid. Not sure how much mix and match you'll get out of them outside this season's collection, but it's definitely do-able.

From the back. The shirt is a bit thin and the pockets on the shorts are a bit lower than they'd be on an actual pair of shorts but nothing horrible on either count.

The colorful stripes shoes are awesome. They slip on super easily on bare feet, which leads me to believe that socks shouldn't be too difficult with these. Also they are cute as HELL.

Extreme Joss closeup! Here you can see that she doesn't have the Josefina mouth (tis not full enough) but also see how she looks super up close. You're welcome?

Behold, the messy top of my hope chest. AGs and CBs and folded laundry. Woo?

Joss is currently hanging out by my TV/on top of my linens. She and Bear Berry are getting along pretty well.

Oh, AG is having a sale on their dolls. Buy any 18inch doll, get 20% off one other item, not including Joss's VW bus. Code is SUNNY. Good through March 9, 2020.
