Road Trip (The problem with linear momentum)

Dec 31, 2010 11:13

Exactly, Jack, so if the microrotation viscosity becomes zero, the conservation law of the linear momentum becomes independent of the presence of the microstructure…” Nathan said thoughtfully, then added triumphantly, “…so we should just conserve linear momentum…”

“Aw, hell...what the fuck is he saying!? Is he making sense to you? Is that even English?” Jack demanded loudly, angrily spinning around to watch Zoe in the backseat.

Zoe grinned, “Now he’s just showing off…Nate, stop showing off, and...OY, Dad, watch the road!”

Muttering to himself, Jack spun around to face front again, “No - now he’s just pissing me off…Stark?”

From the passenger seat Nathan finally looked up distractedly and across to Jack, “What?... Conserve your linear momentum...” He didn’t understand what all the open hostility was about…

Growling loudly and swearing, Jack demanded, “Zoe, translate!”

Zoe mused, “Uh, I think he said to keep going straight, Dad.”

“Oh motherfu--” Jack swore loudly.

Nathan’s and Zoe’s eyes met briefly in the rear-view mirror, and then both ducked down to hide their identical smirks.

“I saw that!” Jack retorted, glancing in the rear-view mirror, still swearing fluidly under his breath.
