“Hey,” Jack offered amiably to the dark haired scientist standing in front of him.
“Why.” It wasn’t even a question, Stark had just flung the word while watching him expectantly.
Jack grinned, “Why what?”
Realising that Jack had no idea why he was called onto the compound, Nathan stepped to the side and waved his hand behind him in a spreading gesture, so that Jack was able to see behind him.
Jack’s eyes widened more with each inch Nathan’s hand moved, as his arms automatically rose to his waist and he tried to process exactly what he was seeing...Every scientist in the adjoining room was twirling around or dipping their partners with mouths wide obviously in song, even though he could not hear them.
He squinted, “Are they…?”
“Yes.”
“Uh huh. Rite” He caught the taller man’s gaze and couldn’t help giving him a little grin, “So…you want me to…”
“Fix it.”
Jack grinned, “Boy this is really pissing you off…” but he broke off teasing the other man as his eyes widened further with realisation and added gleefully, “Stark…are you giving me one word answers because you’re afraid that you’re gonna sing?”
If Nathan could have trusted himself to growl he would have. Clenching his teeth firmly together he bit out,
“Just. Fix it.”
Grinning happily to himself Jack leaned in and pressed a kiss to Nathan’s tense cheek, before turning on his heel and walking out whistling,
“And I think to myself…what a wonderful world.”
Even with his back to him, Jack could hear the other man involuntarily continue the song, “Colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky…”
Catching himself the Director of GD drew up to his full height and snarled, “JACK!”
Jack Carter simply pushed his hands into his pockets and whistled louder while heading downstairs to find Fargo.
