Minnesota is gorgeous!
We just got back from a weekend up in Minnesota with Chad's folks -- a sort of second wedding reception, since they couldn't make it down last month. It's about a 9 hour drive straight up I-29 from Kansas City, through some surprisingly lovely farm and ranch land ( Read more... ) -

Hitched!
We got married in the Platte County Courthouse, with our parents standing by. The judge gave a lovely little speech -- quite a bit nicer than the utilitarian setting required.
The day after, we held a reception at a shelter in Wyandotte County Lake Park -- the weather was lovely, and the moon was full. We went dressed in t-shirts and jeans and had ( Read more... ) -

more wedding nonsense (sorry)
Weddings are weird, yo, even when you're tossing traditions out the window. We've scrapped the venue plan we had before, due to some unexpected expenses, and plans have gone through several permutations -- I wouldn't say I was stressing out, because honestly we were always willing to fall back to just the courthouse marriage and forget about the ( Read more... ) -
wedding nonsense
We are trying SO HARD to keep our wedding plans simple (and cheap) because, let's face it, we're poor. That's mostly my fault -- I've almost but not quite finished paying off a loan that is taking a huge chunk out of my not particularly generous paychecks. In fact, I'll make the last payment about 3 weeks AFTER the wedding. Le sigh.

Mad Max: Fury Road
WOW. Okay. Wow.
Just went to see the new Mad Max movie. Let me say, if you see it, don't drink too much. There's like . . . no real spot to run to the restroom. Moves too fast.

Many Things
So, the wedding/engagement rings fit (the sizer thingy was pretty cool -- she just slid the ring on this cone and hammered at it -- gently! -- until it stretched to fit, and it kept getting stuck on the sizer, and my knuckle got sorer and sorer from trying it on, but hey, the ring fits now!) and I really love mine. :D The stone is a little loose ( Read more... )
