Blaine Anderson was walking into the McKinley Glee Club room as an official member for the first time, and he felt invigorated. The room was so open, perfect for moving around during singing! While Blaine may miss Dalton and the Warblers, there’s just something so different and new about being here with all these new people. Okay, he’d met them before, but they had been mostly intoxicated at the time, so he figured that didn’t count.
Having been the first to Glee club, Blaine had his choice of which chair to sit at, and chose a chair on the second row toward the far right, settling in to wait for everyone else to appear. Grinning to himself, he pulled out sheet music he was excited to share with the class- Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night.” It was upbeat and fun, he was sure they’d love it. He heard someone come in, and sit down next to him. Glancing up from the papers, he saw a brown-haired girl with glasses looking at him as she eyed him critically. Blaine was trying to remember who she was; he remembered her being around Puck at the party… Elizabeth? Laura?
“Lauren!” said Blaine suddenly, smiling at the young woman who arched an eyebrow at him.
“Yes, that is my name, Blaine Warbler. I congratulate you for remembering with all that alcohol in your system the last time we met,” said Lauren approvingly, offering her hand for a shake.
“It’s Blaine Anderson, actually,” explained Blaine as he took her hand in a firm hold.
“It’s Warbler to me, it’s easier that way, and otherwise I’ll forget where you came from. Besides, Blaine Anderson? That sounds like some name off of Leave It to Beaver- did your parents raise you to become a 50’s kid, or did you do that on your own?”
“I don’t think so?” said Blaine, confused by Lauren’s question. Did he really look like someone from the 50’s?
Lauren laid one hand on Blaine’s shoulder in a gesture of comfort. “It’s okay, the whole prep boy thing is working for you, gives you an edge with the ladies. I know it’s certainly working on me.”
Blaine flushed, rubbing the back of his neck embarrassed. “You know I have Kurt though, what’s impressing girls going to do me?”
Lauren smirked deviously at him, looking at him as if ready to tell him some juicy gossip. “I’ll tell you a little secret, Blaine. Something you’ll find to come in handy,” said Lauren, looking Blaine in the eyes. “Girls love a good boy now and then, and you should use that. Girls will do anything for a gentleman and a smile. Get some free homework out of this.”
Blaine looked at Lauren, frowning. “I shouldn’t let someone else do my homework! That’s against the school policy, and how would I learn?”
Lauren looked at Blaine for a moment before starting to outright laugh into Blaine’s shoulder. As this happened, the rest of the Glee club started to trickle in, and Puck stared at the sight before him.
“Oh Blaine, you crack me up. You’re adorable, do you know that?” asked Lauren, teasing the boy, planting a kiss on his cheek.
“Are you moving in on my woman, Anderson? Don’t you have Kurt, you little two-timer?” snarled Puck, glaring at Blaine with derision. Blaine just stared at Puck, not quite sure what to do. He knew Puck could beat him down, there was no beating that. He looked to Lauren, pleading with his eyes. Lauren saw this, and rolled his eyes.
“Don’t worry, Puckerman, you’re safe. I was just giving squeaky-clean here some advice for his own good,” said Lauren, patting Blaine on the cheek. “He’s not switching teams any time soon.”
“He better not,” said Kurt, coming over to sit on Blaine’s left. Blaine smiled at him, taking one of his hands into his own.
“You don’t have to worry about that, it’s all been figured out,” reassured Blaine, looking at Kurt with adoration.
“Okay then,” said Kurt, his ears turning pink. “Come home with me to study- I can catch you up on your French.”
“Will do,” grinned Blaine, circling his thumb on Kurt’s hand. Looking back to Lauren, she nodded her head approvingly to the movement.
Leaning toward him, she whispered, “See? You’ve got the moves, and got yourself a little something-something after school. Think about it, Warbler, and then we’ll talk later.”
Blaine figured it would just be easier to just agree, so he nodded his head as Mr. Schuester began to talk about the new assignment. He was excited- a whole new group of people to get to know! And he’s pretty sure he just made a friend.
