SO MUCH WIN!!! I'm completely in love with this story and I'm so glad my crazy dream about a bridal salon could inspire something this awesome. I just love the style! I can't write like that, in fun little storybook style, and you do it so well. Sometimes that style ends up being boring, but you pull it off perfectly so that it's just hilarious and charming and perfect instead :)
Thanks! I'm glad the style worked, because I also think storybook style can go the other way. I hoped that throwing in some cracky dreams (and other stuff) would keep it from being too dry.
When I was driving in to work yesterday morning, I thought the other four boys would be elves FuMan Fashion Fairies, and they'd each give JC something. Joey would give him naked lady fabric. Justin would give him a bedazzler. Lance would give him flowery shirt fabric. And Chris would give him "how to accessorize with facial hair" advice.
That would have been fun, too, but I'm glad it somehow turned out differently. I think this way is more charming? (At least, it makes me smile more.)
And this is all because I loved that image of JC painstakingly sewing sequins onto a wedding gown. :)
Did you hear about the sighting of JC... I think it was last summer or fall? Some lady chatted with him at the fabric store. He was buying fabric and something else... I want to say fake fur... because he was trying to make a jacket and he was just getting back into sewing his own clothes.
And this was a real sighting. You can't make this shit up :P
Aww, thank you! Glad you could have a fun start to your day!
(Oh, and I've been meaning to hunt up your email or LJ, because I read Phoenix Rising for the first time the other day. And I wanted to send you a "Wow, hot!" and a "I love your Chris!")
This is lovely! phaballa is dead right that the fairytale voice it perfect and works really beautifully for the story. I especially love how very un-elfy Chris is when he finally appears.
I thought it only fitting that Chris was in some way unexpected. And since we all knew at that point who hadn't appeared yet...
(Hmm, now that I look at the Chris part again... Is it bad how very pleased with this fic I am? For a spur of the moment thing, it sure makes me grin with happy non-elfy elf!Chris-ness.)

('Course now I'm thinking "JC in a Bridal Shop --> JC as a wedding singer --> JC as a lounge singer at that Star Trek Experience hotel in Vegas...")
