This weekend was an up and down weekend. Wooooo.
Downs:
Bitch Co-worker. She's just annoying to be around. She wasn't particularly harsh this weekend, but she's still a bitch.
I'm freaking exhausted. I've been tired since Friday night, and it just keeps on going. My exhaustion is compounded by the fact that when guests are here, I'm incredibly high energy 'go go go' all the time. It's kinda my schtick.
I got yelled at by our head chef in front of guests. And because of yelling, thought I was going to be sacked today.
One of the cub scout dads called me a 'chick' and derided my ability to tube down a hill. Seriously?! You fling yourself onto a rubber tube, and gravity does the work from there. Not fucking hard, asshole.
I got done cleaning camp and eight pm. we started at one. ONE. That is SEVEN HOURS OF CLEANING. NO. See, it would have been fine, but I got called up to do community tubing, so Adrian (male coworker) got left with the young 'uns (weekend staff) who are generally lazy. It took them three hours to clean a cabin. Cabins usually take 45 minutes to an hour to clean. THREE HOURS!!! After that, lazy kids left, and Adrian and I cleaned: the trading post, the ice skating rinks, woodcraft studio, arts and crafts, leather, the bb range, candle room, and the gym by OURSELVES. IT WAS BULLSHIT. Adrian started 'volunteering' at six pm, since we're not allowed to work more than thirty hours a week for a while (rant on that later, probably), and he just awesomely stayed and kept working for free. Which segues nicely into
Ups:
I didn't get fired! Yayz! In fact, chef man is getting called into a big meeting with senior staff to discuss his assholery. Again. HE may get sacked. Yayz!
I went to the store to buy rice for the Kitchen since they ran out, and this little girl comes out of nowhere and hugs me while I'm in the check-out line. And then she's all "I went to camp jewell in october and you were my counselor and you were awesome and EVERYONE ELSE FORGOT YOU BUT I REMEMBERED YOU." OH MY FUCKING GOD. That just made my whole day of crap worth it. Fuck, that made my whole month worth it. I MADE A POSITIVE IMPACT IN A CHILD'S LIFE!! BOOYAH!
I made more positive impacts this weekend, apparently, because I made really good friends with all the girls in this one daddy/daughter group, especially these two sisters. They were a hoot, and we had chaotic good times. The dad tried to TIP ME at the end of the weekend. That hasn't happened since summer ended. It's unheard of during the offseason, 'cause it's explained to the guests that they shouldn't tip. But he offered ANYWAY! I naturally declined, and had him give the tip to our Strong Kids scholarship campaign in my name. Strong Kids is really cool. It helps send kids to camp who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it. If you feel like donating, drop me a line.
Hot guy noticed my new hair! He has a non-noticing policy about hair. We've discussed it in depth. Awesome.
I have beautiful new hair. It is shorter and bouncier and prettier, since my awesome hair stylist showed me some great styling tips. She's really great, I think I'll continue seeing her.
Bitch co-worker is probably getting fired! She took a young'un (weekend staff member) to the bar and brought her back to camp drunk. There are like six rules being broken there. So hey, maybe maybe.
I'm planning a roadtrip to GEORGIA to see Savvy, and I am ridiculously excited about it. RIDICULOUSLY.
But that's all from me. Have a good night, kids.
