[When the video feed turned on this time, the library came into view first. Or rather, what remained of the library. Snape himself was browsing through the remaining shelves, obviously searching for certain texts as he would pull out the occasional book, flip through it and either put it back or add it to the small stack of books hovering next to ( Read more... )

For once -- and I'll never say this one again, Sniv -- I agree.

[But not for the same reasons. Killing people in general is kind of a problem.]

[Turning to glare at the PCD he had set down on a nearby desk, Snape's look only darkened at the sight of James.]

Am I supposed to be delighted to hear that?

[James sighs lazily and messes up his own hair. Yup, he still has that nasty habit. He looks tired -- though Yuca's angels were gone, he's still trying to catch up on the sleep he missed from the entire affair.]

Probably not, but I'm bored and you were there, so here we are.

[Besides, James can hardly resist an opportunity to make Snape's life difficult.]

[That sneer was worthy of taking first prize in a contest of sneers.]

How wonderful to hear that I still serve as your entertainment when you're bored.

... do you need some help reconstructing things?

[Snape arched an eyebrow at the stranger.]

Can you 'reconstruct' books that have been burnt to ashes?

Reverse the chemical reactions, provided you have all the pieces. They won't be quite as nice as before, since I've likely never read a lot of them, but they'd be readable.

It's difficult, but not impossible.

[Snape studied the boy with raised eyebrows before turning the PCD around so that he could see the various torn pages and ash that littered the floor.]

Unfortunately, it's quite impossible to tell what belong to what when numerous books have been reduced to this extent. Unless of course, you have some sort of magic that can distinguish between them?

...Aizen does tend to draw out the worst in people.

[No, he didn't do subtle. This should be obvious by now.]

It's not a skill that's hard to master.

[...And it's silence again as Snape goes back to trying to find books that he needs.]

Whole lot of who?

Everyone.

[But Aizen and Madara in particular, with a little Izuna added into the mix.]

Everyone? Didn't think everyone was so against books. Was there a rally I missed?

...

[Oh Merlin, one of those people who were particularly annoying and idiotic.]

No.

[disgusted] Dreadful. Information is vital, in a world like this.

[Oh, the woman from the bar.]

Books and the information contained in them is important no matter where one is.

Indeed--though perhaps especially in a place where experts in a given subject may be scarce.

Perhaps.

[Talkative, Snape was not.]
