Hope you are all doing well! I promised to post my fic from hp-darkfest when it came time, and well, reveals just went up. This is lovely like arterial veins popping under pressure and the gurgle of seismic waves in the back of the skull lovely. Each section is so carefully, masterfully composed I just want to cry for joy that I even know English to understand this. This is the quality of work I wish I was analyzing in my university classes, pieces whose words are more carefully woven than the finest tapestry. I love the parallel deceptions, first with Al thinking Scorpius has caught on, then James thinking Al knows...Not to mention the symmetrical structure superseding that, of life and death and Al's love like a shroud as it poisons...

Brilliant and dark. Poor Al--disturbed but still somehow innocent. Both he and James very much their father's son but in such different ways. I love the three POVs--sometimes multiple POV use is abused and overused, but it's definitely part of the beauty of this fic. There's no way we'd have been able to see all the subtle layers without a glimpse inside all three.
