Good stuff. I still remember going through basic and them talking about the seals on gas masks and how sweating can break the seal and allow chemicals in and how older gas masks were even worse. So then you dawn your gas mask in July in Missouri and think how the fuck do they expect me to keep from sweating LOL!

LOL!!! Was that Ft. Lostinthewoods MO. ? That is not a place that I would want to go through “Gas Chamber” training, “especially” in July. That must have sucked! What year was this?

I went through basic in 96. We had a guy completely freak out during the gas chamber training and he tried to break down the doors to get out. Good times! Being from Texas the heat wasn't too bad but the humidity was pretty stifling. The worse part about Ft. Lostinthewoods was the poison ivy, I am pretty sure that is the only thing that grows there. Went through basic in Missouri and 91B and 91K training in San Antonio. Spent 96 weeks all together under the care and supervision of drill sergeants. If I could go back and do anything differently it would be to pick a shorter MOS.
