I've made posts like this. I had a secret other LJ for a while and I think I posted a lot about feminism there. My feminist attitude is really affected by being in a band with a bunch of dudes. Playing music with guys is a very odd thing because there's this kind of professional element to it that is really delicate

I've been talking a lot recently about how Gilette invented women's shaving less than 100 years ago, and how you can now lose your job by not conforming to that standard.

My hair is thinning and I feel a tiny bit insecure and targeted whenever I see a commercial for Rogaine or Propecia or whatever else. I'm like "fuck that shit." But it does make me a little self conscious. More importantly though, it gives me a glimpse (like 1/1000) of the societal appearance pressures that women have to deal with for their entire lives.
