The first rays of the morning sun found her hunched over the desk, quill sliding wildly over paper, leaving a massacre of green words and letter blended together from the speed of her writing. Her concerns didn't include hether or not anyone would be able to read this later -- she just had get this out.
Minutes passed and she found herself nearing the end of the parchemnt (she liked doing things the old-fashioned way -- with quills, ink wells, parchment paper, etc.). When it happened, she let the quill run right off onto the desk, still writing.
This is much easier, she noted to herself. Much more space this way, and less restrictions.
She went on writing. The entire right half of the surface was covered now in green words, and smudges from where her hand had brushed the slow-dryng ink. Finally, her quill ceased. With a heave of a sigh, she fell back into her chair, exhausted. These bouts of rigorous writing sessions were quite tiring.
Muffins, she thought. I need muffins. Got to refuel.
With some effort, she rose from her chair and left the room. She had hidden a basket of muffins in the third floor lounge that she could bring up. She stopped outside her door to examine the gold plate on her dark green door. The Cryptic Critic, it read in spiraling letters. Cryp grinned. She hadn't been happier since she'd met the other founders of The Gory Details. Forming this refuge for the other oddballs of the writing world had been wonderful. Sure, it had pretty much drained her of whatever sanity she had contained beforehand, but that was just how things went around here.
Making sure her door was shut tight (as to prevent free-roaming ferrets from nudging their merry little way inside), Cryp noticed a small, ratty-looking swath of parchment on the floor, partly stuck under the wall. She yanked at it, and it came loose.
Cryp swallowed hard as she stared at the red letters. They read SC and half of what looked like could be an A. She remembered these letters. She had been there when they had been written, so many years ago. She ran for Lady Emergency's room..
