That article was great! It's funny that I didn't ever really think of it in a feminist/anti-feminist way before!? I just liked to knit because it's fun...
speaking of fun, I'm just about to email you guys + Lisa about Wednesday! Can't wait!
There's also a yarn shop on South Pelham in Fonthill in the plaza beside Mossimo's. They most carry imported yarns, all very beautiful, but the price point was about $10 a ball....which I consider a little pricey on my budget, but I like supporting small women owned shops, so it's worth it!
Haven't been into the shop on Thorold yet, but I've heard the same thing...that the prices are a smidgen higher than what you'd pay at Walmart, but the yarn is quality. Maybe I'll check it out on my lunch today.
I love working with wool, too. but all you can buy at most chains is yucky acrylic :( Although I have to say that Michael's has a pretty good selection.
And apparently there is a great shop in Niagara Falls! What about Frieda's on Queenston?
$10 a ball isn't too bad, if they're good quality stuff i think. i went to the wool shop on thorold yesterday and oh man!! that place smells soooo grandma's basement-like, it's disgusting. i didn't find much there. they had a few nice balls of yarn that were $20!! i bought the same yarn in toronto for $10 and i thought that was pricy. also, i think the woman hated me from the moment i walked in. she was so rude to me.
is there a michael's in the niagara yet? erin and i will be in mississauga and brampton this weekend, so i'll see if she wants to go cause i know there's michael's there.
a yarn shopping outting this summer sounds like a great idea!!
