The other problem is the show’s popularity -- not just with fans, but with critics. The slavish praise and accolades (and awards) the show receives just make the problems with it that much more stark for me.

I do wonder a lot whether I'd feel more positive about the show if it weren't for the ridiculous amount of praise it gets and the blind eye most people seem to have toward the ENORMOUS flaws. Because here's the thing: I watch and have watched some terrible shows. I consider them my guilty pleasures, and I acknowledge to myself and others just how flawed they are, but I shrug and enjoy what there is to enjoy about them. But I find it harder and harder to do that with Glee, because it's not being treated by the general public as a guilty pleasure short of show.

There isn't even any way you could attempt a re-write of tonight's ep. It was just so bad.
